P3MMA Stripe Requirements
White Stripes:
White stripes are earned for completing the homework. The white stripes are NOT testing requirements. Students may graduate with none or with several white stripes. Please note, there is no homework in September or October so we can focus on the stripe requirements.
Black Stripes:
The black stripe is earned at home and awarded by the parents. Parents, by awarding the black stripe you are saying that your child has improved at home since earning their last belt. I recommend awarding this stripe 2 to 4 weeks after their last graduation. But only if it is earned!
Gold Stripes:
The Gold stripe is earned through class effort and is awarded by an instructor. This stripe will usually be awarded about 4 to 8 weeks after the last graduation.
Blue Stripes:
The blue stripe will be awarded after a 6 week practice schedule is turned in. For those of you who completed the August Homework you realize this is not hard and does not take a lot of time. 10-15 minutes twice a week for 6 weeks is all that is required. Yes, it is more to do, but the benefits by far outweigh the time consumption. Remember that you can not earn the next belt without the practice schedule stripe, so don’t wait until three weeks before the graduation! The format of the schedule does not matter. You can fill out an actual calendar or simply record you times on a sheet of scrap paper.
Red Stripes:
The red stripe means that you are ready to graduate. It means you know the curriculum and can perform up to your individual standards. A minimum number of attendance stamps must be achieved also. This is indicated on the attendance cards. If you attend an average of twice per week this will not be a concern.
